Rwanguba, Democratic Republic of Congo
Rwanguba has been a center of indigenous evangelism to the Pigmi people but has also been ravaged by fifteen years of insurgent warfare. It was recently overrun by M23 rebels. There continues to be looting and loss of civilian life in the area. Many from Rwanguba are temporarily living in refugee status across the border at a UNICEF tent facility in Uganda. Once peace and security are reestablished, and it is again safe, we plan to help rebuild their failed hydro-electric facility and once again support their economic recovery through a locally managed micro-finance program, previously sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Garden Grove, Calif. USA.
